About Persistent Objects
When you create a persistent object, you can either assign values for its attributes or omit them and accept the supplied defaults.
When you create a persistent object, you specify the class it instantiates. The class must be defined in the federated database’s schema.
If the schema class is referenceable, each new object created from it is automatically assigned an object identifier or OID so it can be stored and found independently of other objects. OIDs allow objects to be referenced by other objects.
If the schema class is embeddable, the objects created from it do not have OIDs. They can be stored only by being embedded in other objects; see Reference and Embedded Types for more information.
